Baleset is made in memory of Jules Engel (b. Budapest, 1909-2003), a pioneer of Experimental Animation, as a retrospective of his legacy animation, 'Accident’ (1973).
BOOKANIMA, a compound word of ‘Book’ and ‘Anima’, is an Experimental Animation project to give books a new cinematic life. It aims to create ‘Book Cinema’ in the third scope between Book and Cinema by Chronophotography Animation, paying homage to Edward Muybridge and Entienne Jules-Marey.
Shon Kim is an experimental moving image artist from Korea. His work explores the inexplicable connection between the still and moving image. Shon is the recipient of numerous awards including from KinoDrome (1st Place for Animated, Experimental, and Alternative Techniques Media) and Spain Moving Images Festival (Best Experimental Film), and has exhibited at MoMA, REDCAT, and the Modern and Contemporary Art Centre in Hungary, among others. He holds an MFA in Experimental Animation at California Institute of the Arts, and a Ph.D. in Animation Theory at Chung-Ang University.
