SPRING RESIDENTS 2018
Ilsoon jeon
(United States)
Looking Luna; Concealing with superfluous, sterile structures
During her residence Ilsoon was inspired by architectural structures and aesthetics of Budapest – which have permeated into the formal qualities of her final work. In addition to being influenced by the physical environment, her pieces reflect on social and psychological considerations that have been pondered throughout the residency period.
Ilsoon Jeon is a recent graduate of the Pratt Institute in New York. She primarily creates two-dimensional sculptures, which are the result of her time-consuming, meditative practice. Although most of her pieces are non-objective and geometric in nature, she has begun to implement text into her works allowing for another element of intimacy and conversation with the viewer.
